Last Show

Well listeners, the semester has come to an end, and today I bid my farewell to WKNJ 90.3 FM for the summer.  I did a show and bid farewell for the summer.  All in all the show went great, as I played 311, Invubus, Sublime, some Zeppelin and other summerish songs.  I also went over a list of ten shows worth checkin out this summer, with my buddy Ryan Kelly in studio.  He's graduating this semester so he will not be on the show next year with me.  Anyway, I also want to thank once more like I did on air, Professor Scott McHugh, the Media and Film department at good ol' Kean University, my listeners, and all my friends/classmates that swang through into the studio during the semester, and gav eme some fun topics to discuss on air.  Until the fall, rock on Kean, and WKNJ 90.3 FM listeners.

Peace,
Matt Miro

Raining every day in May

So im in the tudio for my monday show on May 4th, and I stop talking as Im looking out the window, and I realize it has been raining for about 5 straight days.  Its so depressing so i put on "No Rain" by Blind Melon, and then decide to rant about how corny all this rain is.  My friend Nicole, decides to come in, and she is a freshman at Kean  We go on discussing all the things that the rain has postponed and ruined in recent times.  It gets rediculous after awhile.  I also did my weekly Rock Band discussion about how the game truly destroys your eyes.  Anyway, being the last week of the semester I decided I'm going to do an extra show tomorrow (5/6/09), and my finale of the semester next Monday at 4.  Rock on

4:20 show

Well, you all know im sure that April 20th, is known as 4:20 throughout the world, especially on college campus's.  Although i don't share my personal information on my views, I condone the audiance to enjoy, but in moderation.  I also played some Bob Marley, Slightly Stoopid, and 311 amongst others, so the listeners can get that laid back kind of reggae vibe.  It wa a good show, in which i as usual gave the most up to date concert schedule, and rock band (the video game) news.  All in all, another fun week, so everyone should keep it tuned here for next weeks show.
Peace

Long Break

Hello, due to the fact I have been busy as anything with school, I haven't had much time to blog it.  But yesterday (4/13/09) was a big show for me because I got to debut the brand new 311 song "Hey You", for the first time on WKNJ 90.3.  Being that 311 is the best band everrrrrr, it was kind of cool playing it.  Also, i had what seems to be my weeklt segment discussing how kick ass Rock Band, the video game is.  My buddy Ryan came on through to the station also, and hung out for a little, as I made fun of him for his addiction of Rock Band.  I als olet the listeners know all the awesome concert dates that have been released as of recent, so it was very informative.  All in all, it was a great show, and the hour and half  I was on just flew on by.

BaCK from Spring Break

Well, i am back from a wonderful week in beautiful Boulder/Denver, Colorado.  It was a wonderful time.  I got on air and just vented about how much i dislike NJ compared to the Mile High area.  One thing that I would not be able to get used to, is the music out there.  Although, much of the music they love (i.e. Phish, Grateful Dead, Bob Marley, random "Jam Bands", etc.) I enjoy as well, i could not get used to it on the regular basis that they overplay it.  Everyone is so mello, laid back, that I guess you can tell that it rubs off on the music they play.  Anyway, besides playing great music on my show this week (3/23/09), I also went overmuch Kean news, and local news as well as music news.  I also am thinking of a segment to start with inviting random Kean students into the studio, and practically interviewing them on things they like/dislike about Kean. Well anyway, I will be back on next Monday the 30th.  Peace

Long week

WHats up, due to a long week it took me a little longer to post my weekly blog.  Mid terms are crushing this week.  So, anyway, this week we discussed a lot of interesting stuff, ranging from the ongoing Rhianna/Chris Brown fiasco, and I discussed numerous summer tours, and new rock band games coming out, including a Beatles edition, and a Van Halen addition.  I was on for 2 hours opposed to my normal 1 hour segment, due to the fact that school is for some reason always closed on Mondays.  I want a larger fanbase, so hopefully WKNJ will be streaming online very shortly (hint to you Scott), But anyway, it is spring break, and I will be in Colorado for the week, so I will get back to ya'll on the other side.  Have a good break yall

Oscars

Well whats going on?  This weeks show (2/26/09) consisted of me ranting about how boring the oscars were.  With the exception of Heath getting his well deserved oscar, and Ben Stiller dressed as Jauquien (sp) Pheonix, the oscars were a snooze fest.  I also went over the fact that Lil Wayne has a "rock n roll" album coming out.  With that being said, I played Framing Hanleys cover of "Lollipop", and a lot of other good music.  I played some music by The Audition, Emery, Thursday, Taking Back Sunday, White Stripes, Rolling Stones, and others.  I think next week I am going to be on a different day, due to rediculous amounts of work due that week.  Keep listening. Peace

Post Grammys Show

So...Sunday night (2/8/2009) was the Grammys, and I spent a little time complaining about them.  Good for Robert Plant, and Alison Kraus (whatever her name is), on winning album of the year.  I will give props to Robert Plant, because of his Led Zeppelin days, but their music...not for me.  I also had my buddy Ryan Kelly on for a few.  We were just chatting bout numerous things including, the A-rod steroid issue, and Rock Band, the video game.  I played much music, including Fall Of Troy, Kings of Leon, Fall Out Boy, Emery, Alexisonfire, Incubus, Rage Against The Machine, Metallica, and others.  I'm looking into taking other open shifts during the week, so keep an ear open for me.  Next week is Presidents Day, so I will not be on Monday, but look out on Wednesday for me.  Have A good week everyone, and keep listening.

First Show

Well, my first show was yestetrday (2/2/09) of the semester, and it went real well.  I covered a lot and played some kick ass music.  I played bands varying in all aspects of rock such as Boston, Fall Out Boy, Lostprophets, Talking Heads, Shwayze, Incubus,  Head Automatica, etc.  Obviously, i discussed the Super Bowl, and the not so entertaining halftime show with " The Boss."  I went over my Grammy picks, and some music news, as well as my Oscar picks, or at least what I think they should be.  I also gave out some contact info, if anyone wants to contact me, i left them the blog address, along with an email address, and my facebook name, so I can take requests, or get topics to talk about.  My buddy Ryan will be in studio with me next week for a little bit.  Hopefully, we can get this WKNJFM.com jumping with all the on-air personalities, and some streaming live feed.  TIll next week...peace, and listen to good music.
